The Trust Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle, single jointed bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with full cheeks as a side piece. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a moderately strong mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when exposed to air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
single jointed
The Trust Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle, single jointed, has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market.
Cheek piece
Full Cheek
The full cheek bit lies very quietly and stably in the mouth. It ensures reliable lateral guidance without the risk of pinching the skin and lips due to the angled bars. This bit is suitable for horses that need clear lateral support and guidance when turning.
