Product description

Trust Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle Bit, Double Jointed with Copper Rings

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a moderately strong mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit strength and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle Bit, Double Jointed with Copper Rings from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The Trust Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle Bit, Double Jointed with Copper Rings is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with full cheeks as a side piece. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Bit Thickness

Side Piece

Full Cheek Snaffle

The full cheek snaffle lies very quietly and stably in the mouth. It ensures reliable lateral guidance without the risk of pinching skin and lips due to the angled shanks. This bit is suitable for horses that need clear lateral support and guidance when turning.

Mouthpiece

Double Jointed

Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth, and sits a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars in horses with narrow lower jaws. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
