Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Bit, single jointed
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the area of the horse's commissures. So, it is a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is generally suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Bit, single jointed, from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Bit, single jointed is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Baucher or Fillis cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.
Bit Thickness
Cheekpiece
Baucher/Fillis
The Trust Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Bit, single jointed is a Baucher bit, also called a B-bit, Fillis, or Fillet bit. This bit is suitable for horses that are sensitive to poll pressure. It lies very quietly in the mouth and particularly encourages horses that carry their heads very high to lower them and become lighter in the poll. The B-bit strongly resembles a Pelham in the upper part of the bit, because, like with a Pelham, the cheekpiece is buckled into the upper, small ring. However, unlike a Pelham, the reins do not act on the bit via a lever and therefore exert little pressure on the poll.
Mouthpiece
single jointed
A single jointed bit has one hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very widely used.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
