Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Single Jointed 12mm 9.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at the thickest part. It is therefore a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Single Jointed 12mm 9.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Single Jointed 12mm 9.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Baucher or Fillis cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 9.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
This mouthpiece size is usually well suited for ponies.
Cheekpiece
Baucher/Fillis
The Trust Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Single Jointed 12mm 9.5 is a Baucher bit, also called B-snaffle, Fillis or Fillet bit. This bit is suitable for horses that react sensitively to poll pressure. It lies very quietly in the mouth and encourages horses that carry their head very high to lower it and become lighter in the poll. The B-snaffle is very similar to a Pelham in the upper part of the bit, because like the Pelham, the cheek piece is buckled into the upper, small ring. However, unlike a Pelham, the rein does not act on the bit via a lever and therefore exerts hardly any pressure on the poll.
Mouthpiece
single jointed
The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece mainly puts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
