Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Double Jointed 12mm 11.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its widest point, making it a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods, and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Double Jointed 12mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Double Jointed 12mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Baucher or Fillis cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 11.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is usually suitable for athletic thoroughbreds.
Cheekpiece
Baucher/Fillis
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Pony Baucher Snaffle Double Jointed 12mm 11.5 is a Baucher bit, also known as a B-snaffle, Fillis, or Fillet bit. This bit is suitable for horses that react sensitively to poll pressure. It lies very quietly in the mouth and encourages horses, especially those that carry their heads very high, to lower them and become lighter in the poll. The B-snaffle is very similar to a Pelham in the upper part of the bit, as, like with a Pelham, the cheekpiece is attached to the small upper ring. However, the rein does not act on the bit via a lever and therefore exerts hardly any pressure on the poll.
Mouthpiece
double jointed
A double-jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used on narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars in a narrow lower jaw. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
