Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Waterford Multi-Jointed Bit
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-strength bit.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Waterford Multi-Jointed Bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Waterford Multi-Jointed Bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Pelham cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit Thickness
Cheekpiece
Pelham
The Pelham is a popular bit with short or long shanks. When taking up the reins, the bit acts on the mouth, lower jaw, and poll. Depending on the leverage of the shanks, a varying degree of strong and immediate bit angle can be achieved in the mouth. Possible use for horses that have difficulty going through the poll, for "hot" horses, or for horses that need clear intervention in critical situations. The Pelham should only be used by experienced riders.
Mouthpiece
Multi-jointed/Waterford
A multi-jointed or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, so the rider retains proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is soft and friendly, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
