Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Waterford Multi-Link Bit 16mm 13.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part near the horse's lips. This makes it a moderately thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Waterford Multi-Link Bit 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Waterford Multi-Link Bit 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Pelham shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-joint. The bit has a size of 13.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.
Shank
Pelham
The Pelham is a popular bit with short or long shanks. When the reins are taken up, the bit acts on the mouth, lower jaw, and poll. Depending on the leverage of the shanks, a varying degree of strong and immediate bit angle in the mouth can be achieved. Possible use for horses that have difficulty going on the bit, for "hot" horses, or for horses that need clear action in critical situations. The Pelham should only be used by experienced riders.
Mouthpiece
Multi-joint/Waterford
A multi-joint or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, so the rider maintains proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is gentle and kind, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
