Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Pelham bit, single-jointed
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point, making it a medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Pelham bit, single-jointed, from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Pelham bit, single-jointed is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Pelham shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.
Bit thickness
Shank
Pelham
The Pelham is a popular bit with short or long shanks. When taking up the reins, the bit acts on the mouth, lower jaw and poll. Depending on the leverage of the shanks, a different degree of strong and immediate bit angulation in the mouth can be achieved. Possible use for horses that have difficulty going through the poll, for "hot" horses or for horses that need clear intervention in critical situations. The Pelham should only be used by experienced riders.
Mouthpiece
single-jointed
The Trust Sweet Iron Pelham bit, single-jointed, has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
