The Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Bit single jointed 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Pelham cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for sporting thoroughbreds.

Bit thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

The Pelham is a popular bit with short or long shanks. When taking up the reins, the bit acts on the mouth, lower jaw, and poll.
