Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Bit, Double Jointed, 16mm 13.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's commissures. This makes it a rather medium-strength mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shires horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Bit, Double Jointed, 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron Pelham Bit, Double Jointed, 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Pelham cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a width of 13.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.
Cheek Piece
Pelham
The Pelham is a popular bit with short or long shanks. When the rein is taken, the bit acts on the mouth, lower jaw, and poll. Depending on the leverage of the shanks, a varying degree of strong and immediate bit angle in the mouth can be achieved. Possible use for horses that have difficulty going through the poll, for "hot" horses or for horses that need clear action in critical situations. The Pelham should only be used by experienced riders.
Mouthpiece
double jointed
Double jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars in a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust develops when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
