Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon Waterford Mouthpiece 16mm 13.5

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. So, it's a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bradoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon Waterford Mouthpiece 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in a little more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon Waterford Mouthpiece 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 13.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece size 13.5cm is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.

Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Multi-jointed/Waterford

A multi-jointed or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, so the rider retains proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is soft and kind, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
