Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Weymouth Bradoon Roller Bit 16mm 14.5

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Weymouth Bradoon Roller Bit 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in a little more detail:

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Weymouth Bradoon Roller Bit 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller cheekpieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 14.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.

Cheekpiece

Mouthpiece

Single-jointed

The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which applies less pressure to the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market. Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings); these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth has a solid bar and the bradoon is jointed.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
