Product description

Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Roller Bit 16mm 12.5

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical characteristics of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Roller Bit 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

The bit Trust Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Roller Bit 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.

Side Piece

Mouthpiece

single-jointed

The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which applies less pressure to the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very common. Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other bits lies in the rings (e.g., olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb bit and the bradoon is jointed.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
