The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Weymouth Bradoon High Port is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller cheekpieces as a weymouth bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar.
Bit thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Weymouth bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Ported Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A ported mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Weymouth Bradoon
The weymouth bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The weymouth bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit has a bar and the bradoon is jointed.
