Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bridoon French Link 16mm 14.5
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's cheek area. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bridoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bridoon French Link 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bridoon French Link 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The mouthpiece has a size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.

Bridoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available as single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed. Straight bar bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
