Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Weymouth Bradoon Flat Bar 16mm 12.5

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

Weymouth bradoons usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Weymouth Bradoon Flat Bar 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Weymouth Bradoon Flat Bar 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for sporty thoroughbreds.

Mouthpiece

Bradoon

The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full centimeter larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit has a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Straight Bar Bits

A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed to create surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses readily accept Sweet Iron bits as a result.
