Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bridoon Olive Head Single Jointed Locked

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's commissures. So it is rather a medium-strong mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

Bridoons for pelhams usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bridoon single jointed locked from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bridoon single jointed locked is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bridoon for pelhams. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are taken up.

Bridoon

The bridoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed. Locked

The Locked mouthpiece is similar to a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust occurs on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
