Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon single jointed locked 16mm 13.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at the thickest point. So it is rather a thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. With your fingers, you can test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team is continuously working on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to present the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon single jointed locked 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon single jointed locked 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side parts as a bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The mouthpiece has a size of 13.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece size 13.5cm is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, because the Weymouth bit is a bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The Locked mouthpiece is similar to a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
