Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon single jointed locked 16mm 12.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for Weymouth bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon single jointed locked 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Eggbutt Bradoon single jointed locked 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece size 12.5cm is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bridle. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The Locked (blocking) mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
