Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bradoon Single Jointed Locked 12mm 11
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thin mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bradoon Single Jointed Locked 12mm 11 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bradoon Single Jointed Locked 12mm 11 is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 11 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece size 11cm is usually ideal for thoroughbreds.

Bradoon
A bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. They are available as single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a whole cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The Locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
