Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Olive Head Roller Bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Olive Head Roller Bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with olive head rings as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.
Bit thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Single-jointed
The Trust Sweet Iron Olive Head Roller Bit has a joint in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece mainly exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Olive head
Olive head bits have fixed, oval-shaped rings at the ends. The fixed rings provide a little more stability in the mouth, which means that the Trust Sweet Iron Olive Head Roller Bit lies more quietly in the horse's mouth.
