The Trust Sweet Iron Liverpool 3-Slots French Straight Bar Bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with driving bit cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-strong mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed to create surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Mouthpiece
Straight bar bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Driving bits
Driving bits like the Trust Sweet Iron Liverpool 3-Slots French Straight Bar Bit are especially suitable for the needs of carriage horses. There are several types of driving bits.
Liverpool Bit The Liverpool bit is a classic driving bit and offers several possibilities for rein attachment. The Liverpool bit is usually available with short or long shanks. It is also possible to tilt the angle of the tongue port forward. This forward inclination relieves pressure on the bars and acts more on the tongue.
Post Bit The Post bit is also a classic driving bit and is commonly used for land harness. It offers two possibilities for rein attachment. Reins are attached to the lower ring to create leverage. When attached to the upper ring, this leverage is absent, and the bit becomes a snaffle bit.
