Product description

Trust Sweet Iron Liverpool 2-Slots Double Jointed Bit 16mm 14.5

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical characteristics of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The Trust Equestrian Team is continuously working on innovative bits to further optimize their design and function. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Liverpool 2-Slots Double Jointed Bit 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The Trust Sweet Iron Liverpool 2-Slots Double Jointed Bit 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with driving bit cheeks. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 14.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.

Cheekpiece

Driving bits

Driving bits like the Trust Sweet Iron Liverpool 2-Slots Double Jointed Bit 16mm 14.5 are specially suited for the needs of driving horses. There are several types of driving bits.

Liverpool Bit The Liverpool bit is a classic driving bit and offers several options for rein attachment. The Liverpool bit is usually available with short or long shanks. It is also possible to tilt the angle of the tongue arch forward. This forward tilt relieves pressure on the bars and acts more on the tongue.

Post Bit The Post bit is also a classic driving bit and is common for agricultural harnessing. It offers two options for rein attachment. When fastened in the lower ring, a leverage effect is achieved. When fastened in the upper ring, this leverage effect is absent, and the bit becomes a snaffle bit.

Mouthpiece

Double Jointed

A double jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth, and sits a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars in horses with narrow lower jaws. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when they come into contact with air and moisture. This rust tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
