The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Kimblehook High Port from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Kimblehook High Port is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Kimblewick cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point, making it a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. This makes horses readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information

Mouthpiece
Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Kimblewick
The Kimblewick combines a leverage effect on the lower jaw branches, pressure development on the poll, and a change in the bit's position in the horse's mouth. The Kimblewick allows for three different attachment options, enabling well-dosed use of the bit. The stable side pieces ensure a calm position in the mouth.
