Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Flat Bar Bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Flat Bar Bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Kimblewick cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its widest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Straight bar bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Kimblewick
The Kimblewick combines a leverage action on the lower jaw branches, pressure on the poll, and a change in the position of the bit in the horse's mouth. The Kimblewick allows for three different attachment options, enabling a well-dosed use of the bit. The solid side pieces are somewhat heavier, which ensures a quieter position in the horse's mouth.
