Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Kimblewick Snaffle, Single-Jointed, Locked
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point, making it a medium-strong mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and especially large warmbloods, draught horses, and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today, we would like to present the Trust Sweet Iron Kimblewick Snaffle, Single-Jointed, Locked from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Kimblewick Snaffle, Single-Jointed, Locked is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Kimblewick cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when rein pressure is applied.
Bit thickness
Cheekpiece
Kimblewick
The Kimblewick combines leverage on the lower jaw, pressure on the poll, and a change in the bit's position in the horse's mouth. The bit allows for three different attachment options, enabling a well-dosed use of the bit. The stable side parts ensure a calm position in the mouth.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit reverts to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust develops upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
