The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Snaffle Locked 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Snaffle Locked 16mm 12.5 bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Kimblehook shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 12.5 centimeters. The 12.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-strong mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The Locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Shank Type
Kimblehook
The Kimblehook combines leverage on the lower jaw branches, pressure on the poll, and a change in the position of the bit in the horse's mouth. The Kimblehook allows three different attachment options, enabling a well-dosed use of the bit. The stable side pieces ensure a calm position in the mouth.
