The Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Dr. Bristol Copper Plate bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Kimblehook shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Dr. Bristol, which is a plate as the center piece of a double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

The Dr. Bristol mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat center piece. The center plate in a Dr. Bristol is angled and has a flat edge. It primarily acts on the tongue with a sharp effect due to the straight, angled plate and with a smaller angle on the bars. This bit can be useful for strong horses or those that go against the hand.

The Kimblehook combines leverage on the lower jaw, pressure on the poll, and a change in the bit's position in the horse's mouth. The Kimblehook allows for three different attachment options, which enable a well-dosed use of the bit. The stable shanks ensure a calm position in the mouth.
