The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Kimblehook Dr. Bristol Copper Plate 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Gag Bit shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Dr. Bristol, which means a plate in the center of a double-jointed mouthpiece. The bit has a width of 13.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally suitable for a normal warmblood.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at its thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

It primarily acts on the tongue with a sharp effect due to the straight, angled plate and with a smaller angle on the bars. This bit can be useful for strong horses or those that go against the hand.
