Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Double-Jointed Bit with Copper Rings from the Trust Equestrian range in a little more detail today:
The Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Double-Jointed Bit with Copper Rings is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Kimblehook cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Mouthpiece
Double-jointed
The double-jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. Compared to a single-jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.
Cheekpiece
Kimblehook
The Kimblehook combines a lever action on the lower jaw, pressure distribution on the poll, and a change in the position of the bit in the horse's mouth. The Kimblehook allows for three different buckling options, enabling a well-dosed use of the bit. The solid cheekpieces are slightly heavier, which ensures a quieter position in the horse's mouth.
