Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Double Broken Bit 16mm 13.5
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's cheek area. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Double Broken Bit 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Kimblehook Double Broken Bit 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Kimblehook shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed. The bit has a width of 13.5 centimeters.
Bit thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.
Shank
Kimblehook
The Kimblehook combines leverage on the lower jaw branches, pressure on the poll, and a change in the bit's position in the horse's mouth. The Kimblehook allows for three different attachment options, enabling a precisely dosed use of the bit. The stable side pieces ensure a calm position in the mouth.
Mouthpiece
double-jointed
Double-jointed mouthpieces are suitable for many horses. This mouthpiece has two joints, is shaped more towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars in a narrow lower jaw. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
