Product description

Trust Sweet Iron Hanging Cheek Snaffle, Single-Jointed, 16mm, 13.5cm

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimetres at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-strength mouthpiece.

Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Hanging Cheek Snaffle, Single-Jointed, 16mm, 13.5cm from the Trust Equestrian range:

The Trust Sweet Iron Hanging Cheek Snaffle, Single-Jointed, 16mm, 13.5cm is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Baucher or Fillis cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 13.5 centimetres.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece size 13.5cm is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.

Cheekpiece

Baucher/Fillis

The Trust Sweet Iron Hanging Cheek Snaffle, Single-Jointed, 16mm, 13.5cm is a Baucher bit, also known as a B-snaffle, Fillis, or Fillet bit. This bit is suitable for horses that are sensitive to poll pressure. It lies very quietly in the mouth and particularly encourages horses that carry their heads very high to lower them and become lighter in the poll. The B-snaffle is very similar to a Pelham in the upper part of the bit, because, like with a Pelham, the cheekpiece is buckled into the upper, small ring. However, the reins do not act on the bit via a lever and therefore exert hardly any pressure on the poll.

Mouthpiece

Single-jointed

The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily puts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This rust tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
