Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron hanging cheek double jointed

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-strength mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draught horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, consider the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron hanging cheek double jointed from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron hanging cheek double jointed is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Baucher or Fillis cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.

Bit thickness

Cheek piece

Baucher/Fillis

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron hanging cheek double jointed is a Baucher bit, also called a B-snaffle, Fillis, or Fillet bit. This bit is suitable for horses that are sensitive to poll pressure. It lies very quietly in the mouth and particularly encourages horses that carry their heads very high to lower them and become lighter in the poll. The B-snaffle is very similar to a Pelham in the upper part of the bit, because, like a Pelham, the cheekpiece is buckled in the upper, small ring. However, the rein does not act on the bit via a lever and therefore exerts almost no pressure on the poll.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
