Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron - hanging cheek, double jointed with high port, 16mm 13.5

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the horse's cheek area. This makes it a moderately thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and especially large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today, we would like to present the Trust Sweet Iron - hanging cheek, double jointed with high port, 16mm 13.5 bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Sweet Iron - hanging cheek, double jointed with high port, 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Baucher or Fillis cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The mouthpiece has a width of 13.5 centimeters.

Bit Thickness

This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.

Cheekpiece

Baucher/Fillis

The Trust Sweet Iron - hanging cheek, double jointed with high port, 16mm 13.5 bit is a Baucher bit, also called a B-snaffle, Fillis or Fillet bit. This bit is suitable for horses that react sensitively to poll pressure. It lies very quietly in the mouth and particularly encourages horses that carry their heads very high to lower them and become lighter in the poll. The B-snaffle is very similar to a Pelham in the upper part of the bit, because, as with the Pelham, the cheekpiece is buckled in the upper, small ring. However, unlike the Pelham, the rein does not act on the bit via a lever and therefore exerts hardly any pressure on the poll.

Mouthpiece

Bar Bits

A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
