Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron-hanging cheek double jointed 16mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-strong mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of the bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron-hanging cheek double jointed 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron-hanging cheek double jointed 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Baucher or Fillis cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Cheek Piece
Baucher/Fillis
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron-hanging cheek double jointed 16mm 14.5 is a Baucher bit, also called B-snaffle, Fillis or Fillet bit. This bit is suitable for horses that are sensitive to poll pressure. It lies very quietly in the mouth and particularly encourages horses that carry their head very high to lower it and become lighter in the poll. The B-snaffle is very similar to a Pelham in the upper part of the bit, because, like the Pelham, the cheek piece is buckled in the upper, small ring. However, the rein does not act on the bit via a lever and thus exerts hardly any pressure on the poll.
Mouthpiece
double jointed
The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
