The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Hackamore Combination Long Waterford Multi-Jointed Mouthpiece from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Hackamore Combination Long Waterford Multi-Jointed Mouthpiece is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Hackamore shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Multi-jointed/Waterford
A multi-jointed or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, allowing the rider to maintain proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is gentle and kind, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.
Side piece
Hackamore
The hackamore does not have a mouthpiece in the horse's mouth, but instead acts primarily on the nose, chin, and poll through the shanks.
