The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of their bits. Today, we'd like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Hackamore Combination Bit, Long, Single Jointed from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Sweet Iron Hackamore Combination Bit, Long, Single Jointed is made of Sweet Iron and features Hackamore shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Single Jointed
A single jointed bit has one hinge point, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market.
Cheekpiece
Hackamore
The hackamore has no mouthpiece in the horse's mouth, but due to its leverage, it acts more on the nose, chin, and poll.
