Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to present the Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring Bit, High Port, 16mm, 12.5cm from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring Bit, High Port, 16mm, 12.5cm is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a ported bar. The mouthpiece has a width of 12.5 centimetres. The mouthpiece size 12.5cm is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimetres at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Information about the manufacturer
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterised by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Ported Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A ported mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
D-Ring
Due to the nature of this bit, it is wonderfully suitable for young horses that are still a little inexperienced. The shape and weight of the cheekpieces ensure a quiet and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
