The Trust Equestrian bit range provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring Bit Flat Bar 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring Bit Flat Bar 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters. The 14.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek Piece
D-Ring
Due to the properties of this bit, it is wonderfully suitable for young horses that are still somewhat inexperienced. The shape and weight of the cheek pieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
