The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Flat Bar 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Flat Bar 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The mouthpiece has a width of 12.5 centimeters. The mouthpiece size of 12.5cm is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek Piece
D-Ring
Due to the characteristics of this bit, it is wonderfully suitable for young horses who are still somewhat inexperienced. This is because the shape and weight of the cheek pieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-rings, optimal lateral stability is provided. Good and quiet rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
