Product description

Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring snaffle bit, single-jointed, locked

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's cheek area. This makes it a medium-strength mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring snaffle bit, single-jointed, locked from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring snaffle bit, single-jointed, locked is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are taken up.

Bit thickness

Side piece

D-Ring

Due to its characteristics, this bit is wonderfully suitable for young, inexperienced horses. The shape and weight of the side pieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.

Mouthpiece

Locked

The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
