Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Single Jointed 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in a little more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Single Jointed 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 14.5 centimetres. The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterised by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
single jointed
The single jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece mainly exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
D-Ring
Due to the characteristics of this bit, it is wonderfully suitable for young horses that are still a little inexperienced. The shape and weight of the cheekpieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
