The Trust Sweet Iron D-Ring Double Jointed Bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its widest point. This makes it a moderately strong mouthpiece.
Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
double jointed
The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, bars, and corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single jointed bits.
Cheekpiece
D-Ring
Due to the characteristics of this bit, it is wonderfully suited for young horses that are still somewhat inexperienced. This is because the shape and weight of the cheekpieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
