Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Double Jointed 16mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its widest point. It is therefore a medium-strength mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize their design and function. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Double Jointed 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Double Jointed 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.
Side Piece
D-Ring
Due to the characteristics of this bit, it is wonderfully suitable for young horses that are still a little inexperienced. This is because the shape and weight of the side parts ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
Mouthpiece
double jointed
A double jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. This bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double jointed bit applies more pressure to the tongue than single jointed bits.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
