The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Curbgag Waterford Multi-joint Mouthpiece is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-jointed.
Bit thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Mouthpiece
Multi-jointed/Waterford
A multi-jointed or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, so the rider maintains proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is soft and kind, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.
Cheekpiece
Curbgag
The combi-bit, also called a curb-gag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap that can be taken up and released as needed. It is very suitable for horses that tend to rush forward.
