The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Curbgag Waterford Multi-Link Mouthpiece 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-link. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Mouthpiece
Multi-link/Waterford
A multi-link or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, so the rider maintains proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is soft and kind, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.
Cheek piece
Curbgag
The combination bit, also known as a Curbgag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap that can be applied and released as needed. This bit is very well suited for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
