The bit range from Trust Equestrian uses soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Bit High Port 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Bit High Port 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimetres. The mouthpiece size 12.5cm is normally ideal for Thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimetres at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been designed so that surface rust develops upon contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Port Mouthpieces
A port is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A port mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Curbgag
The combination bit, or Curbgag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap that can be taken up and released as needed. It is very suitable for horses that tend to push forward.
