The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize their design and function. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curb Gag flat bar 16mm 14.5 bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Curb Gag flat bar 16mm 14.5 bit is made of Sweet Iron and is equipped with so-called Curb Gag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters. The 14.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being further developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Bar bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Curbgag
The combi bit, or curb gag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a chin strap that can be taken up and released as needed. This bit is very suitable for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
