The Trust Equestrian bit range provides gentle yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Curbgag Flat Bar 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Curbgag Flat Bar 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek piece
Curbgag
The combi-bit, or Curbgag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb chain, which can be engaged and released as needed. It is very well suited for horses that tend to push forward.
