Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Curb Gag Flat Bar 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Curb Gag Flat Bar 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curb Gag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The mouthpiece has a size of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Curb Gag
The combination bit, also called a curb gag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a chin strap that can be taken up and released as needed. This bit is very well suited for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
